Our people are absolutely key to the service we provide to our Customers and our success. Continuously encouraging and developing staff is at the core of the Q-Mass strategy. We believe our people are the key differentiator in our service offering. Our extensive apprentice program means they constitute 10-15% of our workforce at any given time.
The extended length of service of many of our team is a key indicator of the quality of what we bring to Customers.
Stages of Work
5-Axis Milling & Turning
5-axis Milling & Turning machines are at the heart of the Q-Mass manufacturing processes.
Our modern machines coupled with the skilled workforce allows us to produce components with high precision and accuracy in line with our Customer demands.
We continuously invest in people and equipment in this key area.
EDM Spark & Wire Erosion
Our investment in EDM Spark & Wire Erosion allows Q-Mass to be innovative in how we manufacture a range of components.
Over a range of years we have developed a number of machines with highly skilled operatives enabling us to produce components to high tolerance levels.
Gun Drilling
Gun drilling is a crucial part of the manufacturing processes within Q-Mass. While not all components will require this, many do.
Our capability to Gun Drill approaching 3m allows us to meet the most challenging Customer requirements.
We have a specific training strategy for our people in this area due to the level of expertise and experience required to meet our Customer specifications.
Horizontal Internal Honing
Our Honing capability can produce highly polished surface finishes which helps us reduce time and cost in relation to standard machining processes.
VAM Threading
There are only a few organisations in the UK Certified to undertake VAM threading. Q-Mass are proud to hold this license.
Q-Mass are able to supply a range of VAM threads depending on our Customers and Project specifications.
VAM has become the standard for premium threads over the years, with the largest field record in the Energy industry.
Inspection
All our products are Inspected at various stages of the manufacturing process.
This is a fundamental part of our work and ensures we are manufacturing to the highest quality of dimension and tolerances as specified by our Customers.
All our products receive a 200% internal inspection.
Q-Mass has invested heavily in a range of Inspection equipment including CMMs, shadowgraphs, various micrometers, verniers, gauges, and Gagemakers.
